Font is EVERYWHERE.

Letters are the cornerstone of a piece of writing and forms a medium between people and the writing, creating communication. Also, within a typeface is what we call the 'font family'. It is appropriately used according to situations such as <Light, Bold, Condensed, and Extended>, and we express our individuality through these variations.

글자는 한 편의 글을 구성하는 초석으로, 사람과 글 사이의 매개체가 되어 소통을 일으킨다. 또한 한 서체 안에는 우리가 ‘폰트 패밀리’라고 칭하는 가족이 있다. <Light, Bold, Condensed, Extended> 등 상황에 맞게 적절히 변주해서 활용하며, 우리는 이러한 변주를 통해 개성을 표현한다.

In a similar context, a chair is the cornerstone that forms a space. This is because something happens in a space only after sitting on a chair. Also, sometimes it becomes a medium between a space and people and induces a specific action to the users, thereby causing communication between the two. From the perspective of letters, FATZ looked at a chair that had been variably used in various ways, maintaining the "sitting" function. The ‘Light, Bold, Condensed, Extended’ of the letters has been extended to a family of chairs with the characteristics of <Rocking, Concentrating, Crouching, Resting>.

비슷한 맥락에서 의자는 하나의 공간을 구성하는 초석이다. 의자에 앉고 나서 비로소 공간 속에서 어떠한 행위가 이루어지기 때문이다. 또한 때때로 그것은 공간과 사람의 매개체가 되는데, 사용자에게 특정한 행위를 유도하여 둘 사이의 소통을 일으킨다. FATZ는 ‘글자’의 시선에서 그동안 ‘앉는’ 기능을 유지한 채 다양하게 변주되어 온 의자를 바라보았다. 글자의 ‘Light, Bold, Condensed, Extended’는 <흔들거리는, 집중하는, 웅크린, 늘어진> 성격을 지닌 의자 패밀리로 확장되었다.

Font-like behaviors

People take right postures following a chair’s shape. Accordingly, FATZ defined the postures on the four chairs as 'font-like behaviors'. Both the feeling of swaying back and forth, or the crouching with legs crossed, fall into the category of ‘font-like behaviors’ we intended.

사람들은 의자의 형태에 걸맞는 자세를 취한다. 이에 FATZ는 네 가지 의자 위의 자세를 ‘폰트적 행위’로 정의하였다. 앞뒤로 흔들거림을 느끼거나, 다리를 꼬고 웅크리는 행위 모두가 우리가 의도한 ‘폰트적 행위’에 속하게 되는 것이다.
